Episode 84: Occasional teachers discuss their experiences as they keep the system afloat

In this episode, recorded in December of 2020, secondary and elementary occasional teachers discuss their experiences during the pandemic. This is part 1 of that interview. In part 2 we discuss the significance of a recent change by the Ontario government to how teachers are hired into full-time contract positions and its effect on teachers’ professional judgement.

Since this podcast was recorded a change to the 90-day minimum eligibility rules for benefit coverage of the Ontario Teacher Insurance Plan’s Health Trust now permits benefit coverage for occasional teachers who are placed in consecutive long-term assignments.
